Who We Are…

Born and raised in Santa Monica, CA, and also where I met my British furniture craftsman husband we now have three, adult children and five rescue pets. Growing up my family home was a lively gathering place for all.  Always tastefully decorated with modern classics from my father and grandfather's furniture showroom as well as my mother's handmade home accessories.  I feel this legacy, gratefully continues to prevail and is revealed in our own homes and projects throughout Los Angeles and Ventura County.

Before we started our family I worked in film and television as a costume designer and wardrobe stylist. Not knowing that I would rely heavily on these skills later in life in a completely different fashion. I have always been fascinated by houses, even as a young girl so it felt natural for me to transition into real estate and now for 15 years, I have been providing quality guidance to buyers and sellers, purchasing and selling properties at all price points from Santa Barbara to Palm Springs, and most points of the compass in between. As life continues to change, so has my profession in many ways and we at House of Hume are prepared to be your creative, steadfast collaborator throughout one of life's most challenging decisions; buying, selling and renovating your home. We have amassed an arsenal of vendors over the years to support all aspects of a transaction. In addition, my son, Henry Hume has joined me, he brings honest, youthful insight and a strong set of negotiation and decision making skills to our team.

Here at House of Hume we respect all aspects of home. From the quest, to financing, to staging, to development projects, we understand how to balance budget realities with dreams, offering thoughtful and often first hand experience to aid in the huge decision of selling, purchasing your home, second home or investment property. Our specialty is to provide our clients with what is uniquely right for them.

What People Are Saying

“Sheila was a subject matter expert in all the details of buying a home. We relied on her heavily and she came through! Even in difficult circumstances, like having to switch lenders mid stream, she knew what to do to ensure we ended up with the home we wanted.”

— Jonathan Rose

“I hear many nightmares about realtors. Not this one! My first house in Venice couldn't have gone any smoother. After I met Sheila, I could tell right away that she's good natured, honest and was dedicated to making me feel comfortable with every decision. She knows the process, the market and always seems to know exactly what the other side is thinking. There are so many things that can go wrong with buying and selling homes. Sheila was there for every important moment I needed her. When I was working and couldn't make it, she even met workers at my house to let them in. She goes the extra distance and it shows. That is why Sheila and I have worked together on 5 different homes and I don't think I will ever use anyone else.”

— Brandon Mastrippoloito

“I can’t say enough about Sheila! Her professionalism and engaging personality made buying our first home exciting and enjoyable! She held our hand from start to finish through a short sale with its fair share of issues, no matter what came up she was there to guide us and always available. She is an excellent realtor, punctual, reliable, and willing to go the extra mile.”
